Americorps ServiceWorks - National Youth Development Program (Mt. Vernon/Alexandria)
ServiceWorks is a FREE career and college readiness program for 16-24 year old scholars beginning September 30th here in Mt. Vernon!
ServiceWorks -- powered by AmeriCorps, Citi Foundation, and Points of Light Foundation -- is a groundbreaking, national program that uses volunteer service as a strategy to equip 16-24 year-old Service Scholars with college and career readiness skills.
We’re excited to announce that the program will kick off in the Alexandria area! The program is FREE and open to any 16-24 year old interested in developing skills to further their resume or college application, as well as personal development. Each scholar has access to soft and hard skill development sessions, a career mentor, and volunteer opportunities, as well as development in specific interest areas through a large-scale service project.
The program will start on Wednesday, September 30th and continue each Wednesday night through October 28th. The program runs from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Each session will include one module around development of a service project and one session around soft/hard skill development and/or mentor meeting.
If you are interested in learning more about the program, send us an email at serviceworks@cpdc.org and we’ll respond shortly!
