Arthur Chu and Eliza Blair Exchange Vows at Mount Vernon Inn

Arthur Chu and Eliza Blair of Alexandria were wed at the Mount Vernon Inn on April 21.

Arthur is the son of Ang-Ling Chu and Ling-I Chen, and Eliza is the daughter of Mitchell and Elizabeth Blair of Cleveland, Ohio. Arthur works in IT sales and marketing, and Eliza works for the EPA as a chemical review manager.

Arthur and Eliza met while they were undergraduate students at Swarthmore College. They were members of the sci-fi club who began dating in 2007. Eliza graduated in 2007 and Arthur graduated in 2008.

When it came down to planning their wedding, Arthur, who started out as a tour guide in DC, knew about many good historical locations. They looked at the National Mall and Belmont House in Capitol Hill before deciding on the Mount Vernon Inn.

“Then we went down to Mount Vernon and it’s a historical area, so it’s not as expensive as rending out a house,” said Arthur, a self-described “history geek.” Logistically, in terms of what we wanted, it was perfect.”

Eliza’s aunt is an Episcopalian minister who officiated the ceremony. Guests enjoyed semi-colonial dishes at the reception. The couple honeymooned in California.
