AUDITIONS for MVCCT’S Spring Musical

Announcing AUDITIONS for MVCCT’S
Spring Musical

Once Upon A Mattress

Monday and Tuesday January 13th and 14th
Bryant High School
2709 Popkins Lane
Alexandria VA

If you thought you knew the story of 'The Princess and The Pea,' you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab?   Or that, in fact, it wasn't the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.

About MVCCT:
MVCCT was founded in 1980 as a not-for-profit organization to provide area youth with quality theatrical experiences that are educational, creative, engaging and supportive. Through the use of hands-on learning of the theatrical arts, MVCCT offers children, ages 3-18, the opportunity to enhance their development---building self-confidence, character, self-expression, autonomy and responsibility.
MVCCT strives to stimulate and enhance the cultural life of young people by offering a creative outlet that helps them to develop poise, independence, and accountability through self-expression. Numerous studies clearly indicate the value of arts education in contributing to the emotional and educational development of young people. Research has shown that participation in arts activities is linked to higher academic performance, more community service, a higher level of self-confidence and discipline, and improved social skills.  MVCCT was honored as the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce 2013 Organization of the year!
