Blood Drive to Help Save Lives of Mothers

Join us for the 3rd Annual Hope for Accreta Foundation global blood drive and awareness event, together with ICAN of Northern Virginia, on Saturday, April 2 from 10:00am-3:00pm in Alexandria VA. April is Accreta and Cesarean Awareness Month and blood drives will be set up across the globe as a way to give back and to help save the lives of mothers. Each location will be attended by a local face of placenta accreta, a serious pregnancy complication that can cause catastrophic hemorrhaging. Blood transfusions are sometimes necessary to save the life of the mother after giving birth. Local survivors and blood recipients will share their personal stories of why blood donations are so important and to thank those who give the gift of life.

The event will take place at the beautiful River Farm (7931 E Boulevard Dr, Alexandria, Virginia 22308), the headquarters of the American Horticultural Society, with 25 acres of landscaped lawns and gardens along the banks of the Potomac River. Come out and explore the gardens and enjoy the beautiful scenery before or after you give blood. The event is family friendly and will feature a crafts table hosted by Arts on the Horizon to keep children busy while parents donate blood. Additionally, diapers and baby items will be collected for the non-profit My Grandmother’s House to help provide health and happiness to mothers and babies in need.

We will have refreshments and great door prizes from Bathologie, Team Beachbody, Greenplicity, Jamberry, Lemongrass Spa, Stella & Dot, Soupergirl, Sugar Shack Donuts, Usborne, Wegmans, and Zoobooks.
