Construction to Begin on Bridge at Woodlawn Park

Residents should expect occasional construction traffic entering the parking lot of Woodlawn Park and along Pole Road.

The Fairfax County Park Authority will start construction to replace the existing pedestrian bridge at Woodlawn Park in Alexandria. The Park is located at 4800 Manor Drive off of Pole Road. This $64,000 project consists of removing the existing bridge and installing a new 35-foot fiberglass pedestrian bridge. The project is funding through park bonds.

The contractor, Accubid Construction Services, Inc., will begin mobilizing at the site within the next several weeks. Once construction begins, the project should be completed within three weeks, subject to potential weather delays. Construction access to the site will be from Pole Road and from the parking area within Woodlawn Park off of Manor Drive.

Residents should expect occasional construction traffic entering the parking lot of Woodlawn Park and along Pole Road. In addition, construction equipment will be present on the trails and vicinity of the bridge during construction. As a safety precaution, portions of the existing trail including the bridge will be closed to users throughout the duration of the project.
