Decorated Marine Honored with Statue Outside Marine Corps Museum

The most decorated soldier in the history of the Marine Corps will be honored with a statue.

An 8-foot statue of Lewis Burwell “Chesty” Puller was installed Tuesday outside the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Semper Fidelis Memorial Park in Triangle, according to the Marine Corps Times.

Puller is the father-in-law of Virginia state Sen. Linda “Toddy” Puller (D-36^th District). He is a World War II and Korean War veteran, and is the only Marine in its history to be awarded five Navy crosses.

The senator's late husband was Lewis Burwell Puller Jr., a Pulitzer Prize-winning author who died in 1994.
