Mount Vernon HS and Whitman MS are pleased to invite you to a very special reception on December 20, 2011 at 6:00 pm in Bratton Hall (G-100) to share with you important details of the $1.2 million STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Grant our schools recently received from the Department of Defense Educational Agency.
This reception will give our schools the opportunity to present to our community the highlights of the grant, and to invite you to partner with us as we become the STEM schools for Cluster IV. The funding from this grant will allow us to institute programs to enhance instruction and provide additional services for our students.
The primary objectives of our STEM initiative, named Operation Major Success, is to provide critical academic and socio-emotional support to military dependent students, engage all students in a broad spectrum of STEM-related opportunities, and utilize targeted technology to connect and inspire further STEM education and increased academic performance. Research-based professional development for our staff will ensure a sustained effort.
We are so proud of this accomplishment and excited about what this means for our students. We hope that you will be able to join us on December 20, 2011.
Please contact us if you have questions or would like additional information.
We look forward to seeing you at this event.
