Friends of Sherwood Library Bookstore hours this week

The bookstore will be open regular hours on Wednesday, 1-4 PM and Sunday, 1-3 PM. Items from the ongoing booksale on the first floor hallway and the second floor open lobby are available for purchase whenever the library is open. The library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.

Still looking for last minute holiday gifts? We have just doubled our selection of holiday books and electronic media. Children’s books, many in like-new condition, holiday fiction for adults, craft and baking books, electronic media, and miscellaneous seasonal items are all available at hard-to-believe prices. Also in the lobby is a table of brand-new books for children and teens.

We’ve received a generous donation of recently published scholarly books on the history and politics of the Near East, Far East, perspectives on European issues, etc. Also on the special price table this week is an ingenious picture book for adults by Maurice Sendak, and a 6-disc presentation package from the History Channel, “The Civil War, 1865.”

Also of special note: the bookcase with 2018 fiction and non-fiction is fully re-stocked, hardcover fiction and science fiction shelves have been refreshed, and the romance section has many recent donations of Debbie Macomber novels.

Plan ahead for Holiday Hours: the bookstore will be open on Saturday, December 22, from 10 AM – 2 PM, and closed on December 23 (a Sunday), and the library will be closed on December 24 and 25.

Did you know our inventory is donated by members of the community? Our bookstore and support of the library depend on your generosity. The bookstore always appreciates donations in all categories, both fiction and nonfiction, in resalable condition. Please, no magazines or encyclopedias. Receipts are available for tax purposes.

EVERY SUNDAY, during our regular bookstore hours (1 to 3 PM), Special Price books located in the Special Price room are half off their sticker price. All books with a red "slash" through the price sticker qualify for this special sale. New books are added weekly. This discount is ONLY available during Sunday sales and excludes children's books. Look for the red slash and enjoy lower prices!
