The bookstore will be open on Wednesday, 1-4 PM, and Sunday, 1-3 PM. Items from the ongoing booksale in the first floor hallway and the second floor open lobby are available for purchase whenever the library is open. The library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.

This week the special price table has several extraordinary sets, including a 13 volume paperback set of “Judge Dee” mysteries, by Robert Van Gulik, from the University of Chicago Press, and a beautiful little 7 volume series of classics from the Collector’s Library. Also new to the table this week is a signed copy of Mary Higgins Clark’s “Mount Vernon Love Story,” and don’t miss the surprising pop-up “WOW” book of sports.

We’ve put our recent donations of fabulous art books on a separate cart for easier browsing, right next to the cart holding the remainder of the Civil War-related books.

Our selection of VHS tapes (yes, these are still in demand) in the second floor hallway has been updated to include several dozen Disney movies, and our children’s shelves now hold an extensive collection of American Girl storybooks, including a 6-volume boxed set of “Julie” stories. The children’s section also has separate shelves for Harry Potter books and books by Rick Riordan.

Have you discovered the “quarter corner” in the upstairs open lobby? This corner near the tech lab has boxes of children’s and young adult books for 25 cents each, and also has several boxes of greeting cards for 25 cents each. Remember, every child and teen gets one of these books from the quarter corner free each time they visit the library.
