The bookstore will hold regular open hours on Wednesday, 1-4 PM, and Sunday, 1-3 PM. The library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.

Our special price table this week includes many new offerings, including a multi-gallery collection of “Portraits by Ingress,” “Music for Sight Singing,” local history book “They Called Stafford Home” (Stafford, County, Virginia), and “The Five Lives of Ben Hecht” by Doug Fetherling.

Recent donations include many like-new hardcover books by Catherine Coulter, Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson, and Danielle Steele. Find these in the popular authors’ sections in the second floor lobby.

For summer travel or armchair trips, the bookstore has tour guides, state and country maps, city atlases, attraction brochures, and easy to use language guides and dictionaries. Check out the “coffee table books” section for pictorial collections that will whet your travel appetite.

The children’s/young adult room has books and games to help entertain K-12 ages during the long summer months, as well as activity books to keep skills sharp, coloring books for the very youngest readers, dystopian novels, and series books such as Dork Diaries, Tom Swift, Nancy Drew, Rick Riordon, Harry Potter, and much more. Also, be sure to visit the “Quarter Corner” in the second floor lobby.

PLAN AHEAD and stock up for summer reading now. The library will be closed on July 4 and 5, and the Friend’s Bookstore Saturday sale on July 6 will have shortened hours: 10 AM to 2 PM.

The bookstore is currently in need of paperback mysteries. Our bookstore and support of the library depend on donations by members of the community. The bookstore always appreciates donations in all categories, both fiction and nonfiction, in clean, resalable condition. Please, no magazines or encyclopedias. Receipts are available for tax purposes.

Items from the ongoing book sale in the first floor hallway and in the second floor open lobby are available for purchase whenever the library is open. Help us spread the word; please forward this message to your community and neighborhood email groups.
