The book store will be open as usual on Wednesday, August 21, from 1-4 PM, and Sunday, August 25, from 1-3 PM. Sherwood Regional Library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.

This week’s new donations on the special price table include a 6-disc DVD boxed set of “Band of Brothers”; “Pocahontas’s People, The Powhatan Indians of Virginia through Four Centuries” by Helen C. Rountree; and 2 extraordinary volumes by James M. Goode: “Best Addresses ( A Century of Washington’s Distinguished Apartment Houses)” and “Washington Sculpture (A Cultural History of Outdoor Sculpture in the Nation’s Capital).”

We have received an astonishing donation of over three dozen graphic “comic” books, from Marvel, Top Cow, DC Comics, and others. And be sure to look in the special price room for more new additions to the bookstore’s graphic novel selections.

Look for beautiful additions to our Native American and Photography collections. Many of these are regular price and are on the regular non-fiction shelves.

Save the date: Saturday, September 7, for our Back-to-school sale, when prices will be slashed by half on all children’s, young adult, and teacher resources special price books. Remember that all books with a “red slash” through the original price sticker are now half-off the original price, every day.

Our bookstore and support of the library depend on donations by members of the community. The bookstore always appreciates donations in all categories, both fiction and nonfiction, in clean, resalable condition. Please, no magazines or encyclopedias. Receipts are available for tax purposes.

Items from the ongoing book sale in the first floor hallway and in the second floor open lobby are available for purchase whenever the library is open. Help us spread the word; please forward this message to your community and neighborhood email groups. Take a look at our new video on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TheFriendsofSherwoodLibraryBookstore/ . No need to be a Facebook member to access this page.
