The Friends of Sherwood Library Bookstore will be open as usual on Wednesday, October 23, from 1-4 PM and Sunday, October 27, from 1-3 PM. Sherwood Regional Library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.

This week on the special price table we have a rare signed copy of “The Power Makers – Steam, Electricity, and the Men Who Invented America”; a new “Introduction to Programming Using Visual Basic – with CD”; the 2020 “Old Farmers’ Almanac”; and an unusual (wooden) boxed set of 6 Griffin & Sabine volumes. Also, Civil War buffs take note: this week we have the like-new 14-volume “Civil War Narrative” by Shelby Foote.

Planning ahead for the holidays? In the second floor lobby we have a table full of holiday-related books for all ages, DVDs, CDs, and vinyl. The cookbook cart has one shelf dedicated to holiday crafts and baking, and the coffee table area offers a small selection of Halloween books.

Please note: the library’s elevator to the second floor is out of order. Volunteers are able to assist with large volume purchases.
