Got an Announcement for Mount Vernon Patch Readers?

At Patch, we love contributions from the local community about everything from yard sales to fundraisers to business announcements to school plays.

Anyone can post announcements on Patch. Here are some tips to make sure it gets noticed:

1. Click on “Contribute to Patch” on the top right.
2. For your headline, please don’t write in all-caps; it looks like you’re shouting to the readers.
3. Add a photo, logo or some kind of art, preferably sized 600x400 pixels.
4. Break up your announcement into paragraphs that are easier to read than one big block of copy.
5. Once you have posted your announcement, send an email to: maryann.barton@patch.com, letting me know that you’ve posted your announcement, preferably with a link to it. That way, I can move it from the Bulletin Board to the home page where more readers will see it; once it gets to the home page, it will also get onto our Facebook and Twitter sites. This is especially helpful if your announcement is time-sensitive.
