What kind of weather will we have on Halloween?

You couldn’t ask for nicer fall weather Tuesday in Northern Virginia, with blue skies and temperatures hitting 80 degrees. In just a few days, costumed kids and families will be scampering through neighborhoods, trick or treating for Halloween.
So what’s the weather going to do on Friday in Northern Virginia? Patch talked to a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Sterling Tuesday afternoon and here’s what he has to say:
Temperatures will be in the mid-50s in the late afternoon on Friday and begin falling quickly after sunset (at 6:13 p.m.), says meteorologist Dan Hofmann with the NWS.

There is about a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain with chances increasing after dark as a cold front moves in, he said. If there is rain, it will likely begin falling between 6 to 8 p.m.
“You better have an umbrella and jacket to go along with that costume,” he said.
