Happy Thanksgiving from Friends of Sherwood Library Bookstore

Bookstore has everything to help your holiday be enjoyable.

This week the Friends of Sherwood Library bookstore is open Wednesday from 1 – 4 PM and Sunday from 1-3 PM. The library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306. The library will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday.

Whether you’re shopping for Thanksgiving treats or black Friday bargains, don’t forget the necessities you’ll find at the bookstore. If you are traveling we have travel guides, books on CD, and gift-quality books for “hostess gifts”; to entertain young visitors we have books, games, CDs and DVDs. And of course, cookbooks galore!

Recently we received a wonderful donation of hardcover books about cowboys and the old West. A collection of 33 volumes of Bantam-published Louis L’Amour books is in excellent condition and a bargain at only $1 per volume, and various hardcover novels by Larry McMurtry are like new.

Also new this week, the bookstore has a cart-full of hardcover James Patterson thrillers, in addition to those already on offer.

For the rest of November we will continue to offer old, vintage, and antiquarian books, including some that are first editions or out of print. Although many show their age they are generally well bound and in readable condition. We have an entire rack of these books, selling for $1 each or as priced. Depending on interest and donations, this might become a permanent feature at the Bookstore.

The bookstore always appreciates donations in all categories, both fiction and nonfiction, in resalable condition. Please, no magazines or encyclopedias. Receipts are available for tax purposes.
