Independence Fireworks Tickets On Sale At Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Ahead of Independence Day, there's no better place to watch the fireworks than at the first president's home. George Washington's Mount Vernon put tickets on sale Monday for its Independence Fireworks on June 24 and 25.

The two evenings at Mount Vernon will feature fireworks over the Potomac River, performances, demonstrations and concessions. Tickets can be purchased with or without a Mansion tour. The event tends to sell out, so get your tickets early to guarantee a space.

The event will run from 6:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with fireworks starting around 9:15 p.m. Fireworks viewing will be available on the East Lawn, where concessions can also be purchased.

Aside from watching fireworks over the river, attendees can tour the Washingtons' Mansion, visit the museum and education center, and see other special performances and events. Visit with General Washington in the historic area from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and see a special wreath laying at the Washington Tomb at 6:45 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. The Bowling Green will host Fifes & Drums of Yorktown performances of the 18th century and the music of Washington's troops at 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and the Mount Vernon's Historic Trades will have 18th-century ice cream-making demonstrations. Head to the South Lawn for performances from the National Concert Band from 7:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. – 9:10 p.m.

Ticket prices for Mount Vernon members with a Mansion tour are $40 for adults and $28 for youth. Member prices without a Mansion tour are $35 for adults and $22 for youth.

Tickets for non-members with a Mansion tour are $50 for adults and $38 for youth. Tickets without a Mansion tour are $45 for adults and $33 for youth.
