Mount Vernon Cake Shop Honors Fallen Heroes

Local cake shop paid a sweet tribute to police and firefighters by donating more than $1000 worth of cake to the Stars and Stripes Tribute gala earlier this month.

The annual gala is sponsored by the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce and pays tribute to local police and firefighters.

The cake was adorned with a draped American flag and stenciled-in names of those police and firefighters that had lost their lives in the line of duty on 9-11.

"We are honored to be a part of the police and firefighter tribute," said Campbell. "It’s important for us to pause and remember all of our police and firefighters who are so generous in giving of themselves to help others. Our cake was a ‘thank you’ to them."
