Mount Vernon Woods Home Damaged in Fire
A home in the Sequoyah development was damaged in a fire this afternoon.
A fire broke out in a townhouse in the Mount Vernon Woods neighborhood this afternoon, displacing a family.
The fire started at a home on Fielding Street shortly before 5 p.m. Firefighters arrived at the scene and saw the fire through a second floor side window. The fire was extinguished in 25 minutes, said Dan Schmidt, spokesman for the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
No injuries were sustained. The Red Cross will be assisting the family with finding temporary shelter.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
