New Video of ATM Skimming Across Fairfax

Unknown subjects seen installing malicious equipment that steals card information for fraudulent use.

Fairfax County Police has released new video of subjects placing skimmers on ATMs in Fairfax County. The equipment is attached to the front of card readers on ATMs, pulling card information for fraudulent use later.

The latest videos come from Navy Federal Credit Union machines in Fairfax, Alexandria and Reston.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers by phone at 866-411-TIPS/8477, e-mail at fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or text “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES/274637 or call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.

In July, FCPD released information and security camera photos from SunTrust Bank locations in Burke and Alexandria.

ATM users are also encouraged to look closely at ATMs when they are making financial transactions. The skimming devices may appear on the front of the machines and may be affixed loosely to machines with tape.
