The Flood Warning will likely run until 5:15 p.m., the NWS indicated.

The National Weather Service expects 1 to 3 inches to fall this afternoon, which โ€œwill cause rises on area streams...with some potentially coming out of their banks. Some minor flooding of low-lying areas can also be expected.โ€

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow, according to the NWS, but โ€œall interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.โ€

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams and ponding of water in urban areas, the NWS says. This includes roadways and other low-lying areas.
