The Majors field hockey team defeated Wakefield 6-0.
The Majors field hockey team defeated Wakefield High at its home opener on Tuesday.
The senior teammates took the lead in scoring all six goals, said coach Jessica Hebel.
"Ashleigh Sable had the hat trick, scoring 3 of the 6 goals. Seniors, Gabby Ocker, Jane Heller, and Tamara Warren all added a goal a piece. Senior Lizzing Sagar contributed two assists, while seniors Jane Heller and Sabrina Smith both had assists as well," Hebel said in an email to Patch. "Our team played strong defensively as well, allowing only one corner and no shots. Wakefield’s goalkeeper, Brianna Rusin, played very well (18 saves), as did their captains. Mount Vernon will travel to Stuart tomorrow (Thursday) and host a home game on Saturday vs Annandale. Our record is currently 5-1-1 this season."

The Majors' next home game will be played against Annandale on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
