Photos: Majors Suffer Defeat in Season Opener
Mount Vernon High School loses Thursday to West Potomac, 34-7.
Though the Majors fought a tough battle Thursday in their season opener against the West Potomac Wolverines, they weren't able to hold their ground.
The Majors trailed 34-7 against the Wolverines, who won the Battle of the Highway football game.
Mount Vernon head coach Barry Wells said the Majors were competitive early in the game, but made some mistakes that cost them the game, including not putting game captain Robert DeCardi-Nelson in at the beginning of the game.
