Updated: Police Respond to Argument, Resulting in Short Pursuit

Fairfax County police responded to a verbal argument that led to a short police chase.

Police say a 17 year-old juvenile is the suspect in the argument that occurred on Colony Court on Friday afternoon.

According to Fairfax County Police Department Public Information Officer Bud Walker, the responding officer arrived on the scene and witnessed both parties in a verbal argument in the middle of the road. The officer issued a verbal command to both individuals to get on the ground. Both individuals initially complied, but the suspect got up and led police on a short chase through the neighborhood before being apprehended a second time.

The victim was a 24 year-old Mount Vernon-area resident and was released without charges. The suspect was taken to the Mount Vernon District station where he was released to the custody of his parents. 

A juvenile permit will be obtained by the responding officer for charges of larceny, simple assault, resisting arrest, escape with force, and trespassing.

An argument that took place at a soccer field resulted in a short police chase in Mount Vernon. 

Fairfax County police responded to a call about a verbal argument around 4:18 p.m. today at Colony Court, said police spokesperson Officer Bud Walker. Both parties involved were arrested. One perpetrator escaped on foot while in handcuffs, leading police on a short pursuit ending at Brevard Court. The perpetrator was caught and both people were taken into police custody. 

No weapons were involved and no life-threatening injuries were sustained, said Walker.
