Police Blotter: June 29, 2011

Incidents reported to the Mount Vernon District substation of the Fairfax County Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fairfax County police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Attempted Larceny: 

A man attempted to steal a cell phone from a 42-year-old man at a bus stop, located at Buckman Road and Russell Road, on June 18 around 11:10 a.m. The suspect asked the victim to make a phone call, but while the victim dialed a number, the suspect attempted to take the phone from the victim’s hand. The victim was able to hold on to his phone and chased the suspect a short distance before losing sight of him. The suspect was described as black, about 5 feet 3 inches tall and 140 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored shirt and tan pants.

Malicious Wounding: 

On June 19 around 2 a.m. a 24-year-old victim walked outside the a restaurant in the 8400 block of Richmond Highway and was approached by a suspect, who reportedly struck the victim in the face with a beer bottle. A patrol officer found the victim walking from the restaurant and summoned rescue. The victim was treated at the scene for non life-threatening injuries. The suspect, Mauricio Melendez, 27, of 27 Pace Lane in Alexandria, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding.

Larcenies: 

4000 block of Adrienne Dr. - two bicycles stolen from a residence

4300 block of Pembrook Village Dr. - cell phone stolen from residence

3900 block of San Leandro Pl. - lighting fixtures and sink stolen from residence

Vehicle Thefts: 

Frye Rd./Madge Lane - Ford vehicle
