Police: Decomposed Body Found in Mount Vernon Area
A man walking in the woods came across the body Monday night, police say.
A decomposed body has been found in the woods in the Mount Vernon area, Fairfax County Police Police said Tuesday morning.
A man was walking in the woods Monday night near the 4800 block of Manor Drive (see map) when he came across a body police say is in an advanced state of decomposition. The man contacted police at around 8:30 p.m.
The remains are believed to be male, police said. The remains were transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner, which will make a determination on cause and manner of death, according to police.

Preliminarily, police say that detectives do not believe there is a public safety threat to the community and the investigation is continuing.
