Police Investigate Homicide After Body Found In Mount Vernon

Police say the body was found near a bridge in Mount Vernon on Wednesday.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — A homicide investigation is underway after a body was found in Mount Vernon Wednesday.

Police say a resident walking a dog found the body near a bridge at Old Mill Road and Gateshead Road. The medical examiner determined the victim had upper body trauma.

Police do not believe the incident was random, and there isn't an ongoing threat to the public. The victim was identified as Micale Kebede, 31, of Alexandria City. The police department's Victim Services Division is assisting his family with resources.

The investigation remains active, and detectives are processing evidence and interviewing witnesses. Old Mill Road has reopened after detectives investigated on the scene.
