Police Investigating Death in Mount Vernon Area
Officers were called to wooded area Friday afternoon.
Fairfax County Police said Saturday in a news release they are investigating the death of a man found Friday afternoon in the Mount Vernon area.
Police say they believe the man is in his 30s. Officers were called to a wooded area in the 7500 block of Vernon Square Drive (see map) around 1:27 p.m. on Friday for the report of an unresponsive male in the woods, they said.
Officers located the man and determined he was deceased, according to FCPD. He was found about eight feet down in a drainage ditch, police said. His name is being withheld pending positive identification by the medical examiner’s office.

This investigation is ongoing. The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
