The Friends of Sherwood Library bookstore will be open for our “first Saturday” sale, December 7, from 10 AM – 4 PM, as well as usual hours on Wednesday from 1-4 PM and Sunday from 1-3 PM. Sherwood Regional Library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.

The bookstore’s newly expanded winter hours include every Saturday from 1 – 4 PM.

This week during the Saturday and Sunday sales, the bookstore will hold a special half-price sale on ALL children’s and young adult specially priced items. This includes all children’s and YA holiday books. Regular priced books remain at 25 cents each.

As always our special price table contains quality books at very reasonable prices. This week it includes a 3- volume boxed set of Boswell’s “The Life of Samuel Johnson”; the new novel by Jojo Moyes “The Giver of Stars”; the pop-up graphic novel “Spider-man Tastic!”; and a 4-disc blu-ray set of Masterpiece Theater’s season two of “Indian Summers.”

This week thanks to generous donations we have greatly refreshed the classics section and have added numerous Patrick O’Brian novels to the “sailing” shelves. The entire bookstore offers gift-quality books, as well as gently used volumes, in all categories. Regular prices are $1 for hardcover, 50 cents for soft cover, and 25 cents for mass market paperbacks. Remember to visit the special price room, where many previous specials have been “red lined” to half price.

Our bookstore and support of the library depend on donations by members of the community. The bookstore always appreciates donations in all categories, both fiction and nonfiction. PLEASE ensure that they are in clean, resalable condition. We cannot accept magazines or encyclopedias. Receipts are available for tax purposes.

For large-volume donations (for example, multiple boxes or hundreds of items) please call the bookstore in advance to facilitate staff coordination: 703-718-8206.

Items from the ongoing book sale in the first floor hallway and in the second floor open lobby are available for purchase whenever the library is open.
