A chance to meet a very interesting Lorton resident, experience great food and entertainment, and help struggling students. It's at Shirley Ginwright's home, 11615 Gunston Road, which is directly across from the Great Marsh Trail, on Saturday July 19, 4:00 to 8:00. Shirley is a very interesting person--President of the Fairfax NAACP, grew up in Montgomery, AL, knew MLK, was in the Selma-to-Montgomery march, helped integrate her school, etc. etc. She is also a "Queen Mother" of Cameroon, and the event is to raise funds for education there. There is no minimum donation (tax deductible) but the invitation (attached) notes that $50 will send a child to school for a year. There will also be African and American food and a performance by African JuJu Dancers. If interested, RSVP to Shirley, preferably by July 16, at: cameroonfonscouncil@gmail.com or 703-470-2137.
