Sherwood Friends Bookstore celebrates Native American Month

Library Friends Bookstore spotlights vintage books this month as well as Native American materials

This week the Friends of Sherwood Library bookstore is open Wednesday from 1 – 4 PM and Sunday from 1-3 PM. The library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.

In recognition of November as Native American Month, we are dedicating a bookcase near the checkout desk to books and other materials about American Indians. Each month we will use this space to spotlight other subject areas or special events on a rotating basis.

During November we are also offering old, vintage, and antiquarian books, including some that are first editions or out of print. Although many show their age they are generally well bound and in readable condition. We have an entire rack of these books, selling for $1 each or as priced. Depending on interest and donations, this might become a permanent feature at the Bookstore.

Please note that the library system, and the bookstore, will be closed on Friday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day.

Did you know our inventory is donated by members of the community? We greatly appreciate donations of kids’ games and puzzles, good quality books and electronic media in resalable condition. We currently are in special need of audio books and CDs; please no magazines or encyclopedias. Receipts are available for tax purposes.
