The Friends of Sherwood Library Bookstore will be open for the “First Saturday Sale” on November 2 from 10 AM – 4 PM, and as usual on Wednesday, October 30, from 1-4 PM and Sunday, November 3, from 1-3 PM. Sherwood Regional Library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.

This week on the special price table we have an unusual collection of multiple boxes of Tarot and oracle cards. Also on special this week are wonderful art books: “The Egypt Story,” “Iran, Elements of Destiny,” and a folio size volume “Leonardo: the Complete Paintings and Drawings.” In addition, not to be missed are a signed copy, by Kathryn Crosby, “My Life with Bing” and Curt McConnell’s “Coast to Coast by Automobile, 1899-1908.”

Recent donations include a cart full of Robert Parker fiction, and an additional cart of recently donated popular fiction. Also new this week are carts full of classical CDs, history and biography, and audio books in the romance section. The children’s room has a new section for elementary/middle school graphic novels (for example, Dog Man, Captain Underpants, etc.).

In the second floor lobby we have a table full of holiday-related books for all ages, DVDs, CDs, and vinyl. The cookbook cart has one shelf dedicated to holiday crafts and baking, and the coffee table area offers a small selection of Halloween books.

Please note: the library’s elevator to the second floor is out of order. Volunteers are able to assist with large volume purchases.

Our bookstore and support of the library depend on donations by members of the community. The bookstore always appreciates donations in all categories, both fiction and nonfiction, but

PLEASE, in clean, resalable condition, and again, no magazines or encyclopedias. Receipts are available for tax purposes.

For large-volume donations (for example, multiple boxes or hundreds of items) please call the bookstore in advance to facilitate staff coordination: 703-718-8206.

Items from the ongoing book sale in the first floor hallway and in the second floor open lobby are available for purchase whenever the library is open. Help us spread the word; please forward this message to your community and neighborhood email groups.
