This week at Friends of Sherwood Library Bookstore
Open all day this Saturday. New donations of like-new kids' books, other specials. Closed on New Year's Day.

The Fairfax County Library system will close at 5 PM on Tuesday, December 31, and will be closed all day on Wednesday, January 1.
The Sherwood Regional Library bookstore will be open for our “First Saturday” sale on Saturday, January 4, from 10 AM – 4 PM, and Sunday, January 5, from 1-3 PM. Sherwood Regional Library is located at 2501 Sherwood Hall Lane, Alexandria, 22306.
As always our special price table contains quality books at very reasonable prices. For the Saturday and Sunday sales these offerings include a 4-disc DVD set of Peter Lorre in the “Mr. Moto” collection and Warner Oland as “Charlie Chan” in a 4-disc boxed set; Stephen King’s new novel “The Institute”; Frederick Elliston, editor, “Husserl, Expositions and Appraisals”; and the complete 5 volumes, in soft cover, of “A History of Private Life.”

In the second floor open lobby we have new additions to the cookbook cart, the children’s & young adult quarter corner, and the classics shelves. A new feature is a “Modern Classics and Award Winners” shelf, located near the coffee table books. Also near the same table is a 13 volume set from the Scientific American Library. For VHS fans, this week, thanks to a generous donation, we have over 20 tapes of “Brute Force: The Definitive History of War Technology” as well as 12 volumes of the ABC production copies of “The Century.”
Also in the second floor lobby we have set aside a full table of newly donated children’s books, most in hardcover and of gift quality. These would make wonderful books to save for birthdays and other events throughout the year.
