Weekend Weather: A Steamy, Possibly Stormy Start Makes Way for Cooler Temps
Sunday looks to be the best weather day of the weekend for Northern Virginia.

The calendar says September, but outside, temperatures could hit 89 Friday and a sizzling 92 degrees in some areas of Northern Virginia on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
Chances of thunderstorms continue today (Friday) with the highest chance coming between 4 to 8 p.m., according to the Capital Weather Gang.
The chances for rain and/or thunderstorms during the weekend mini heat-wave is sort of off and on and looks like this, according to the NWS:

- Friday (today): has a 50 percent chance of precipitation, mostly between 12 noon and 8 p.m.
- Saturday: “mainly after 12 noon,” there is a 30 percent chance of precipitation, increasing to 60 percent in the evening
- Sunday: there’s a 30 percent chance of rain, mostly before 8 a.m.
By Sunday, Northern Virginia will have cooled off and instead of highs near 90 degrees, the high on Sunday will be 81 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. On Sunday night, there is a slight (20 percent) chance for showers.
Monday looks even better, with a high of 78 degrees and no calls for any rain in the forecast.
