Your Turn: Which Route 1 Widening Option Do You Support?

There are currently three options for widening Route 1 near Fort Belvoir. Local officials from the Pentagon to widen Route 1.

The Federal Highway Administration has proposed three options to widen Route 1. The three options are as follows:

• No-build option: This option would leave Route 1 as is.
• Widen-in-place option: This option would widen Route 1 in place by adding 68 more feet to the 80-foot right-of-way.
• Southern bypass: Richmond Highway would dip southeast of the Woodlawn Stables’ barns toward the Potomac River, then back, in this option. from community groups and Woodlawn Stables supporters.

The Environmental Assessment can be viewed on the FHWA website. The deadline for public comment is July 6.
