4. A Hampton Roads pro soccer team? Leaders say the region has the fanbase to support it. (pilotonline.com) — Newport News's Lionsbridge Football Club is one of two semi-pro teams anchoring Hampton Roads' growing soccer scene, drawing thousands of fans to TowneBank Stadium. Regional leaders say that support, plus strong TV ratings and major tournaments, shows Hampton Roads could back a higher-level pro team, though big hurdles like stadium costs and franchise fees remain.
   

5. Acting Secretary of the Navy, Hung Cao to headline maritime summit in Norfolk (wavy.com) — Hampton Roads, including Newport News Shipbuilding, will be in the spotlight this October when Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao headlines the inaugural Ironclad Maritime Summit in Norfolk.
