• Family members, co-workers testify in day one of trial for man accused of killing Keir, Chloe Johnson (wtkr.com) — A major Newport News murder trial is underway for Carlos Johnson Jr., accused of killing local mother Keir Johnson and her infant daughter Chloe, who vanished in 2017 and were never found. Family members and former co-workers testified about alleged threats and tensions surrounding the pregnancy, with prosecutors presenting extensive evidence as the case resumes Monday.
   

• US Navy funds 100,000-ton CVN 82 nuclear aircraft carrier via HII deal (interestingengineering.com) — A $336 million U.S. Navy contract will fund long-lead materials for the future CVN 82 aircraft carrier, to be built at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding yard. For Newport News residents, the deal signals continued work and stability at the region's largest industrial employer and its vast supplier network, supporting jobs and the local economy for years ahead.
