VHS-Sponsored Port Warwick Foundation Summer Concert Series Underway with Weekly Performances in Newport News

Free Family-Friendly Shows on Wednesdays in William Styron Square

Let the summertime tunes begin! Presented by Virginia Health Services (VHS) and the Port Warwick Foundation, the Port Warwick Summer Concert Series has kicked off its 22nd year to delighted crowds. The free, family-friendly concerts take place in William Styron Square in Newport News every Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

The 2026 something-for-everyone concert lineup features rock & roll, pop, country, jazz, R&B and Motown-inspired musical artists, as well as a Taylor Swift cover band. The series runs through August 26; concerts are held rain or shine. Attendees come from all across the Virginia Peninsula and beyond to the shows, which draw from 1,000 to over 3,000 music fans each week. “Through the Port Warwick Foundation, we work to bring high-quality arts, music and cultural experiences to Newport News, while Virginia Health Services has long been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for residents and families throughout the region,” said Laura Fisher, executive director of Port Warwick Foundation. “Together, we recognize the importance of creating vibrant communities where people can connect, engage and thrive.”

The concerts are especially meaningful for many residents of VHS’s The Arbor at Port Warwick, an independent living community for active seniors. The Arbor is located at 1100 William Styron Square; residents can easily gather with friends and neighbors to enjoy the concerts and other community events right in their own front yard.

“What a great start we’ve had to this long-standing community tradition!” said VHS’s June Moore, regional director of care transitions. “VHS couldn’t be more thrilled to present the 2026 concert series with the Foundation.”

The Arbor offers a fulfilling, worry-free lifestyle with beautifully appointed apartments, gourmet dining, an engaging mix of programming and activities, convenience services, and supportive amenities. The VHS portfolio, supported by Marquis Health Consulting Services, has been a senior healthcare staple in southeastern Virginia since 1963. 

Founded in 2006, the Port Warwick Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization focused on organizing and managing regional arts and entertainment events.
