The Oakton High School DECA Chapter has a very exciting year underway filled with new projects and goals to accomplish.
This year the Oakton DECA members have chosen to not only focus on their individual needs to succeed, but also the needs of the Oakton and Vienna communities. The Oakton DECA Chapter has chosen community orientated projects to focus on for the 2012-2013 school year.

Oakton DECA will implement an Anti-Bullying Campaign at local middle schools to discuss the dangers of bullying and what students can do to help eliminate bullying within their schools.
Oakton DECA is also working to bring positive attention to the growing population of students with special disabilities at OHS. The week long campaign will be titled “One Oakton”. We will work with Spread The Word To End The Word, an organization dedicated to eliminating the use of the “R word” and assist in the promotion of the annual FanQuest Special Olympics Basketball Game held at McLean High School this January.

Lastly, Oakton DECA has teamed up with the OHS club known as Codi’s Hats. The club is affiliated with national Codi’s Hats charity, an organization that collects decorated baseball hats which then are donated to local children’s hospitals. Oakton DECA will be organizing fundraisers to collect supplies for the hats, publicize the event, and provide opportunities for other OHS students to be involved.
Oakton DECA is very excited about these events and the opportunity to give back to our community!
