Car Fire Spreads To Oakton Home, Injures Firefighter

A firefighter was injured and two people were displaced when a car fire started.

OAKTON, VA—A June 1 car fire spread inside an Oakton home, injuring a firefighter and displacing two residents, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

Crews responded to the 11200 block of Timberline Drive around 7:13 p.m. and found two cars on fire in the garage. The fire extended to the home, and firefighters worked to stop the fire from spreading to all levels.

A person walking by had spotted flames in the garage. No residents were home at the time, but a firefighter went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Fire investigators determined the blaze started in a car engine. The displaced residents have declined Red Cross assistance. Damages are estimated to be $120,400.
