Doctor From Oakton Accused Of Illegally Prescribing Meds
The doctor allegedly prescribed the drug to an undercover cop without a legitimate reason for the medication.
OAKTON, VA ā A doctor from Oakton was arrested and charged Wednesday for allegedly distributing Adderall illegally, federal prosecutors say.
Dr. Gurpreet Singh Bajwa, 48, of Oakton, who operated a medical practice in Fairfax, is charged with illegal distribution of Adderall. He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
The Virginia Department of Health Professions had suspended Bajwa's medical license in 2012 in relation to his prescription practices. Between January 2017 and September 2018, he allegedly issued approximately 15,000 controlled substance prescriptions to more than 1,000 patients. Some local pharmacies flagged Bajwa and stopped filling prescriptions from him.

Two undercover cops posed as patients and went to see Bajwa starting in summer 2018. One officer told the doctor she was a fitness model and needed Adderall for her workouts, which is not a legitimate reason to get the medication, prosecutors say.
During each appointment, Bajwa allegedly prescribed a 30-day Adderall supply to the two undercover officers. The undercover officer also asked for extra pills in the prescription for a purported friend, and he allegedly agreed.
