Officer-Involved Shooting In Alexandria Kills Man: Police
A fatal shooting of a man in crisis by Alexandria Police will be reviewed by a regional law enforcement team.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An armed man in crisis was killed in an officer-involved shooting by Alexandria Police Monday night. The fatal shooting prompted a use-of-force investigation.
Police responded to a call to do a welfare check on a man around 10:46 p.m. Monday at 5101 Maris Avenue. The caller, the man's coworker, said the man made statements about harming himself and that he had at least two guns.
Officers, including those with specialized intervention and negotiation training, responded and fun the man with a gun in a common area stairwell. Police negotiated with the man for 35 minutes and ordered him numerous times to drop his weapon. Around 11:21 p.m., an Alexandria police officer fired the weapon "in response to a threatening action," according to police. The man's gun and other police weapons did not discharge.
