Virginia Power Outages: About 500 Still Without Electricity
It's a mess out there in parts of Virginia. Power outages have been reported Sunday into Monday, but most repairs are made.

About 500 Virginia residents were still without power as of 5:45 p.m. Monday after rain and strong winds moved through the state overnight, down from roughly 10,000 outages at 11 p.m. The National Weather Service said wind gusts could exceed 50 mph at times through 10 a.m. Monday, but the rain has largely ended.
Rain and flooding were a concern, but the biggest worry was the damaging wind. A wind advisory was posted for northern and western Virginia until 10 a.m. Monday, while a winter weather advisory was in effect for western Grant, western Pendleton and western Highland counties, where snow fell overnight.
The National Weather Service is calling for winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts around 50 to 55 mph. Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
