📰 News we're reading
• Hegseth Confirms He's Cutting Brass 20% (newser.com) — Service members at Marine Corps Base Quantico heard Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirm plans to cut 20% of the military's generals and admirals, a move he calls overdue accountability. Speaking during his "State of the Force" address, he again emphasized rolling back what he labels "woke" culture, while senators from both parties questioned whether the reductions amount to a damaging purge of senior leadership.
• Hegseth announces a new drone command and cuts to 20% of generals in 'State of the Force' speech (newser.com) — Quantico residents saw national defense policy unfold right on base as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth used a speech at Marine Corps Base Quantico to unveil a new drone warfare command and a 20% cut in generals and admirals. He also outlined plans for a new military base, a self-powered base initiative, and a high-profile study of future warfare led partly by Elon Musk and Newt Gingrich.
• The head of the Pentagon accused the American media of treason because of publications about weapons stocks (news-pravda.com) — Troops at Quantico Marine Corps Base heard Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth sharply criticize major American newspapers, accusing them of endangering service members by reporting on depleted US weapons stockpiles. Speaking in Virginia, he argued that such coverage misleads the public about ammunition supplies and labeled what he sees as biased reporting on military actions as a betrayal of the country.
