Richmond 2017 City Election Results: Democrats Lead The Way
Virginia's governor's race isn't the only thing Richmond voters must decide.

RICHMOND, VA — Election Day is over and Virginians elected Democrat Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam on Tuesday to serve as the Commonwealth's next governor. But that wasn't the only race tha Richmond voters had to decide.
In the race for Virginia's lieutenant governor, Democrat Justin Fairfax defeated Republican Jill Vogel. Mark Herring, Virginia's incumbent Democratic attorney general, also defeated Republican challenger John Adams.
Local elections
In the race for Virginia's 68th district delegate, Dawn Adams, a Democrat, was leading Republican G. M. "Manoli" Loupassi.

In the battle for Virginia's 69th district delegate, Democrat Betsy Carr soundly defeated Libertarian Jacob "Jake" Crocker and Green Party candidate Montigue Magruder.
Delores McQuinn, a Democrat, ran unopposed for Virginia's 70th district delegate and Jeff Bourne, also a Democrat, ran unopposed for the 71st district delegate.

In the race for the 74th district delegate, Lamont Bagby, a Democrat, soundly beat independent Preston Brown.
Democrat Michael Herring ran unopposed for the city's commonwealth's attorney.
Democrat Antionette Irving defeated Nicole Jackson and Emmett Johnson Jafari, both independents for sheriff.
In the battle for city treasurer, Democrat Nichole Ona Armstead had a seven point lead over independent Michelle Mosby. Independent L. Shirley Harvey was far behind in the race.
Schools
Kenya Gibson was elected to fill the 3rd District seat on Richmond's school board. Cindy Menz-Erb and Joann Henry came the closest to challenging Gibson.
Richmond voters also voted overwhelmingly to amend the city's charter to force Mayor Levar Stoney to come up with a way to upgrade the city’s schools without increasing taxes.
