• Local police stick by Flock cameras (sovanow.com) — South Hill residents are being scanned by eight Flock license plate cameras run by the town's police department, part of a 27-camera network across Mecklenburg County. Local leaders describe how the system is funded, what crimes it's used for, how long data are kept, and what safeguards and audits are in place, even as some nearby counties abandon the technology over privacy concerns. 
• 21-year-old La Crosse man dies in shooting (sovanow.com) — A 21-year-old La Crosse resident died after being shot on Powell Drive in South Hill, and police say no arrest has been made yet. Investigators believe the incident was isolated but are still pursuing leads and working with the Commonwealth's Attorney. Anyone who saw or heard anything is urged to contact South Hill Police to help move the case forward.
• Water curbs loom as lake flirts with 288 ft. elevation (sovanow.com) — Mandatory Stage III water restrictions are about to kick in for South Hill and much of Mecklenburg County as Buggs Island Lake hovers at the 288-foot trigger level. Residents should prepare for tight limits on outdoor watering, pool filling, car washing, and even restaurant water service, with no clear end date until lake levels recover after sustained rain.
