• 50 acres of remote land burn in Prince George near Surry line (progress-index.com) — A large brush fire in Prince George County burned about 50 acres Wednesday evening near the Surry County line, but firefighters kept the flames from crossing into Surry. Surry County Fire and EMS assisted Prince George crews, and residents near Lebanon Road are warned to expect lingering smoke and reduced visibility for several days while forestry personnel monitor the area.
