Attempts To Change Grades Under Investigation At Oakton High

Detectives are investigating hackers attempts' to change grades and obtain other personal information.

Over the last few months Oakton High School has been targeted by hackers trying to change grades and access other personal information through the school system.

The hacks started around November, according to a search warrant obtained by The Washington Post. Detectives say the hacks were tied to an email sent by the Oakton High School Honor Council, which included a link to the club's website. The link apparently caused the readers to download software that sends information to the hackers.

According to The Post, this "keylogger" technique allows hackers to access passwords, credit card numbers and other school system information. At Oakton, requests for grade changes, changes to student passwords and email log-ins from remote locations happened.
