Columbus Day 2019: What's Open, Closed In Vienna

VIENNA, VA — Fairfax County recognizes the federal and state holiday Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 14. On that day, Town of Vienna and county government offices, schools and other services will be closed. Some services may be open or run on a different schedule.

Here's a look at what's open and closed around Vienna.

Town of Vienna and Fairfax County Government Offices: Closed on Oct. 14.

State Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on Oct. 14.

Fairfax County Public Schools: Closed on Oct. 14.

Community Centers: Vienna Community Center hours on Oct. 14 are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs, activities and facilities will be closed Saturday, Oct. 12 through Monday, Oct. 14.

Fairfax Connector and Fastran: Fairfax Connector bus service will operate on a holiday weekday schedule on Oct. 14. Fastran will not operate on Oct. 14. See www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector for more information.

Libraries: Patrick Henry Library and other Fairfax County libraries will be closed on Oct. 14.

Metrorail: The Metrorail system will be open 5 a.m.-11:30 p.m. and operate on a Saturday schedule on Oct. 14. Parking will be free at all Metro parking facilities, and off-peak fares will be in effect all day.

Metrobus: Buses will operate on a Saturday and supplemental schedule on Oct. 14. See bus timetables.

Post Offices: Closed on Oct. 14.

Recreation Centers: Fairfax County recreation centers are open regular hours on Oct. 14.

Trash and Recycling: Regular Town of Vienna collections are scheduled. Fairfax County trash and recycling collections occur on Oct. 14 while the Customer Service Center is closed. Contact private providers for any schedule changes. The I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) and I-95 Landfill (9850 Furnace Road, Lorton) are open for regular hours on Oct. 14.
