Fairfax County Public Library To Bring Back Regular Hours
After staffing shortages prompted reduced hours, Fairfax County libraries will be open Mondays and at some locations on Sundays.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Public Library plans to bring back normal hours this upcoming Sunday after cuts due to staffing shortages.
Since Jan. 16, library locations had been closed Sundays and Mondays. When normal schedules resume on Sunday, regional library branches will be open Mondays to Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Community library branches will be open Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Community libraries will be closed on Sundays.

When library branches are open, curbside pickup is available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours for the Fairfax County Public Library Access Service branch continue to be Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fairfax County Public Library had cut hours since Jan. 16 due to the COVID-19 surge and high number of staff vacancies, according to spokesperson Erin Julius. Staff vacancies are still impacting the county, but the library system is prepared to resume normal hours.

"While countywide vacancies remain high and recruitment efforts are underway, we are fortunate to have high community vaccination for COVID-19 and a low rate of new cases in the Fairfax Health District," Julius said in an email to Patch.
Until regular hours resume, regional branches are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Community branch locations are open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Regional branches include Centreville, Chantilly, City of Fairfax, George Mason, Pohick, Reston, Sherwood and Tysons Pimmit. Community branches include Burke Centre, Dolley Madison, Great Falls, Herndon Fortnightly, John Marshall, Kings Park, Kingstowne, Lorton, Martha Washington, Oakton, Patrick Henry, Richard Byrd, Thomas Jefferson and Woodrow Wilson.
