Giant's Peapod Offering Grocery Delivery at Vienna Metro

Just don't have the energy to stop at the grocery store after work? Order ahead and pick 'em up on the way to your car at the metro.

VIENNA, VA -- Too tired at the end of the day after riding Metro home to make a trip to the grocery store? Your life might have just gotten a little easier.

The Vienna/Fairfax GMU Metro Station is ground zero for an experiment by Giant’s Peapod delivery service where they are trying out delivery at metro stations for a six-month trial period, according to The Washington Post.

The Vienna station is one of three stations where the new service is being offered and if it’s a success it might be expanded to all metro stations.

To use the service, you place your order with Peapod and then pick up your order between 4-7 p.m.; the service is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You’ll pay ahead of time and an attendant will hand you your groceries at the metro.

The idea for the grocery pick-up at metro stations plan was first discussed about a year ago.
